Celebrating Three Decades in Practice

Dr. Frances is located in the Boulder / Denver, Colorado area and serves clients all across the United States and Internationally.

Boarding School Placement

At times, it is recommended that students graduating from a wilderness program, a therapeutic boarding, or a residential treatment center attend a traditional boarding school with support to complete high school.

Case Management

The practice of case management is a professional and collaborative process that assesses, plans, implements, coordinates, monitors, and evaluates the options and services required to meet an individual's educational and mental health needs.

Gap Year Facilitation

Every Gap program is comprised of different program modules. Some give you the ability to customize your destination, while others are fixed. All will provide the tools and opportunities you need to decide who you’re going to be in this world.

Parent Testimonial

“Dr. Frances is devoted to creating change in relationships with the family she assists as well as with the programs she recommends. She was readily available with expert advice as we approached the crisis situation with our daughter.

Dr. Frances gave us support all along the way through an emergency transport to the wilderness program, then on to a young adult transitional living program. She was just the professional we needed.”

Teens Have A Lot on Their Minds>

What are the three simple benefits of working with Horizon Family Solutions?

Horizon Family Solutions provides the following benefits to families and their children, adolescents, teen, and young adult:

  • Increased awareness of the available program and school choices to provide the best fit and most positive change for your student / young adult
  • Personalized services from a professional who can address the unique needs of your student / young adult
  • Reduced anxiety for everyone involved, resulting from good planning, preparation, and organization of the search and eventual decision-making process

How far ahead should we plan when signing up for services?

Ideally, a wilderness placement may take one to two weeks, depending on the age and complexity of the situation.

Residential therapeutic boarding schools may take three weeks to three months, depending on the age and complexity of the situation, testing completed, and whether the student attended a wilderness program or other treatment program prior and has current testing.

GAP opportunities can take anywhere from one month to three months, depending on activities, destination, healthcare situations, and preferred focus. Young Adult Transitional Living options can take anywhere from two weeks to two months, depending on the prior treatment received testing, whether academic or clinically focused, and location.

Starting earlier with a clear understanding of the process and the timeline can make it more thoughtful and less stressful. Most services are not covered by insurance or Medicaid. There are insurance advocates who may be able to assist, however, it is beneficial for a family to be prepared to pay for services.

When you are just deciding that you may need some professional help for your child, adolescent, teen, or young adult, please do not hesitate to call 720-258-5577, to discuss what assistance you may need and whether Dr. Frances needs to join a process already in place.
