Enhance the tunnel effect with Wideangle

To create depth in photography using the tunnel effect and a wide-angle lens, focus on incorporating leading lines. Leading lines are natural or man-made elements that guide the viewer's eye through the image. To enhance the tunnel effect, position yourself so you can capture strong leading lines or symmetrical patterns. Experiment with different perspectives and heights to achieve a dynamic and immersive visual experience that emphasizes depth and the tunnel effect.

Get a great blurry background with Macro

To capture captivating macro photos of small subjects like flowers, insects, and berries, first, stabilize your phone to ensure sharp focus on your subject. Next, use a shallow depth of field to isolate your subject and create a smooth, blurry background. Pay attention to the lighting and consider using a sheet of paper to diffuse light, avoiding harsh shadows. Experiment with different angles and compositions to capture your subject from unique perspectives, while showcasing the beautiful bokeh effect created by the macro lens.

Make ordinary items look special with Macro

Transform ordinary objects into fascinating photographic subjects and unique details and textures. Example Paint on a paintbrush, colored pencils, a coin, a bill, fabric textures etc. Focus on the intricate textures or engravings, historical figures, or symbols found on coins, unveiling their hidden beauty and craftsmanship. Explore the patterns, threads, and textures of clothing or upholstery, highlighting the design details. Capture the complexity of circuit boards or other electronic parts, unveiling the hidden world of technology.

Capture new and interesting viewpoints with Wideangle

To capture original photos using a wide-angle lens, experiment with various perspectives and compositions. Try low angles to emphasize height, overhead shots for unique patterns, or the fisheye effect for surreal images. Utilize framing techniques to add depth, create panoramic landscapes to showcase vast scenes, and incorporate environmental elements in portraits to tell a story. By exploring different angles and heights, you can leverage the wide-angle lens to produce captivating images that stand out.

How to use a Macro lens to make things "pop"

Using macro lenses on your smartphone allows you to take stunning pictures, as they require you to get very close to the subject and the PocketLens offers a wide viewing angle. This makes them perfect for discovering everyday objects from a completely fresh perspective.

5 macro photo tips:

  • Focus on small, intricate subjects like insects, flowers, or textured surfaces to showcase the macro lens's ability to capture fine details.
  • To minimize harsh shadows and highlights, diffuse light sources by using a piece of white paper, or even a tissue to soften the light falling on your subject.
  • Choose colorful, contrasting, or textured backgrounds to make your subject stand out and add visual interest to your macro images.
  • Shoot a lot of photos. Long press your shutter to ensure you get a couple of sharp photos. Flowers and insects move with the wind and go out of focus.
  • Get really close - 1 inch is the furthest away your lens should be from the subject. Try it on a coin of bill to get an idea of distance.

Making the most of your mobile photography

7 tips to get the best results with your smartphone pictures

Composition is a crucial aspect of photography. It involves maintaining a clean background (simpler with macro, more challenging with wide-angle), making sure your photo has a distinct main subject, and framing the shot. Placing the subject in the center can create a dramatic tunnel effect, which works great with wide-angle lenses. However, for photos with people, position them off-center (rule of thirds) to make the shot more captivating.

7 Mobile Photo Tips:

  • Clean the lens: Ensure a clean lens for clear photos by wiping with a soft microfiber cloth.
  • Focus on composition: Apply the rule of thirds for balanced and visually appealing images. A third to the right, or to the left is an easy rule of thumb.
  • Use natural light: Shoot during golden hour or in the shade to avoid harsh sunlight or built-in flash lighting.
  • Wide-angle perspective: Emphasize depth and perspective using leading lines and patterns. Such as train tracks, corridors, bridges etc.
  • Wide-angle proximity: Get closer to the subject for a more immersive, dramatic and fun photo.
  • Macro steadiness: Stabilize your phone against a steady surface or with a tripod to get a sharp image (plus take many photos).
  • Macro lighting: Use external light sources and different angles for detailed, textured shots.

Fits Moto G5+!
Traditional clip on macro lenses don't fit my moto g5+, but this odd little contraption worked great, right out of the box. It shipped and arrived quickly and it was packed well. There was a quick-start sheet that helped me fit all the parts together, and a link to a youtube video for more instructions (I didn't need it). For all of that alone, it is well worth the price. However, there are some shortcomings. First, the quality of the lens is okay. You definitely get strong magnification, up close. With the optical zoom on my phone, it's pretty amazing. However, it was a bit blurry at the edges and hard to keep in focus by hand. A tripod would certainly help. I have one and I'll try it later. The lens is manufactured with a small lip to slip into a channel on the clip. The clip is probably not compatible with other lenses that have threaded fittings. The other macro lens that I have does not fit in the clip. The clip itself is about as sturdy as a plastic fork. I can foresee a day when I break it in half trying to fit on my phone. Don't let it get cold, hot or leave it in the sun.The plastic clip has a little rubber nub that rests on the face of your phone. And when the clip is off your phone that rubber nub rests against the back of the lens itself. This is not great, as the rubber collects bits of dust and fibers readily. There is a lens cover, but that only protects the front of the lens. I will probably make a protective sleeve to keep the front and back from getting dusty when I'm storing it.Here are some photos I took immediately after assembling the clip.1) no zoom, no lens, indoors, overhead light, no flash, no filter, or editing. About 4" from subject.2) no zoom, macro lens, indoors, overhead light, no flash, no filter, or editing. Less than 1" from subject.3) 2x optical zoom, macro lens, indoors, overhead light, no flash, no filter, or editing. Less than 1" from subject.4) 3x optical zoom, macro lens, indoors, overhead light, no flash, no filter, or editing. Less than 1" from subject.5) 4x optical zoom, macro lens, indoors, overhead light, no flash, no filter, or editing. Less than 1" from subject.6) contents of shipment: bag, clip w/ macro lens, wide angle lens (removed), lens cover

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Happy With This Lens Set
Reviewed in the United States on April 12, 2016
I've been having a lot of fun with this lens set. I wanted it primarily for the macro lens, to try to take pictures of my family's eyes. Weird, I know, but there it is. Setting up the lens was easy enough. The lens snapped into the clip easily, and the lenses are easy to separate macro from wide angle. Just take off the lens cap, twist the wide angle lens off and put it in the little pouch that comes with the set, and the macro is ready to go. They both work very well for what I wanted. (I need to learn how to diffuse light better, but that's just me not knowing what I'm doing. I'm working on it!) I had trouble getting my camera to focus while using the macro at first, but the company sent me an email with links to a video that helped a bunch. (Top notch customer service, by the way.) Once I figured out how close/far to hold the camera from the subject to use the macro lens, I was good to go. The wide angle works very good, too. It's easy enough to use that I turned my 10 year old loose with it. I handed him my phone and he took a ton of photos of his toy cars. Great fun. I'm very happy with my purchase, and the price was very affordable. I would definitely buy as a gift.

1.0 out of 5 stars Close Up Lens is Fantastic!
Reviewed in the United States on April 8, 2016
***UPDATE*** I can no longer recommend this lens as there's a serious design flaw that causes the glass lens to get pushed out of the black ring by the back piece (that sits on the phone when connected) if/when this is kept in a pocket. I've gone through 3 or 4 of these now, reason being is that I really like the clarity of this lens compared to others I've tried for macro when I don't/can't carry around my DSLR. But until this issue is fixed (maybe by lengthening the back piece longways?), I wouldn't buy this again, nor recommend. See pics.

***********

This little lens is AMAZING! I have been using it everyday since I received it. You can get really decent photos with the close up lens (which is the only reason I bought this and the only one I've used). I've mainly been using it for insects, arachnids, and flowers. The only problems I have is that the lens cap does not stay on well at all and I've already lost it, and there is no rear lens cap. This leaves the lens open for scratches and dust/dirt. I would definitely recommend and would buy again. In fact I did buy another one for my mom. :)

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderfull addition to my Samsung Centura
Reviewed in the United States on February 28, 2015
Wonderful addition to my Samsung Centura.
I needed an inexpensive way of taking macro shots for things I am selling on eBay.
I had been looking at the plethora of lens offerings out there and was intrigued by the pictures submitted by owners of the Pocket Lens and the many positive reviews so decided to check it out..
Boy was I amazed at the ease of use and stunning quality of the pictures that my refurbished $20 phone could produce with the Pocket Lens.
The Pocket Lens is helping me to take clear pictures of parts that I am selling and has already payed for itself.
Super simple to use, just clip it on, unscrew the wide-angle lens, get down to about an inch away from your subject and shoot. My Samsung phones camera is centered side to side, down about an inch from the top of the phone and the Pocket Lens fits it perfectly
The wide angle lens works great as well but my main use is the macro.
I highly recommend this quality lens package for anyone with a cell phone and especially for anyone wanting to take macro shots without having to spend a fortune on a DSLR.
Included some pictures of parts of a couple of straight razors that I am working on, these parts are 1/4 to 1/2 inch wide. I am just a beginner with the Pocket Lens and looking forward to taking lots of pictures with it.

3.0 out of 5 stars Provided cool effects to my iPhone photos
Reviewed in the United States on September 2, 2015
It worked very well for the few days that I had it. Provided cool effects to my iPhone photos. The Wide Angle did have distortion towards the edges which is to be expected. The small lens glass piece did fall out a few times and after a few days it fell out and was lost. Took off 2 stars for poor construction for this. Possibly find a way to better attach the glass to the lenses better to avoid this. I have attached a few photos that were taken with the lens without any post editing done so you are able to see the distortion with the lens. The macro attachment was my favorite of the two. It provided very nice close up photos with minimum distortion. All photos taken with an iPhone 6.

Reviewed in the United Kingdom on November 3, 2018
The white plastic is going to give out very quickly one way or other...so not a long term option I would suspect. It also doesn’t hold the lens at all well ..falls out easily...so you have to be careful. Also no matter how you position the lens you can’t get 100% cover. But you can trim off I suppose when editing. It’s not terribly good close up....I would say between 5-10 magnification. But coupled with the zoom of the iPad and iPhone...well that makes it far better. It’s only for fun...not serious photography. For the money...a fiddly toy to entertain before its broken like all cheap toys....what did one expect. I added pic of dried rose I had....with just the lenses and with added iPad zoom
