I just learned an expensive lesson about buying a hair extension, and maybe others can benefit from what I learned.

I purchased an $850 Lauren Ashtyn Collection Giselle Light Topper and was really impressed with the quality of the hair, but completely unimpressed with the color. The base color is just all wrong, and the overall look is much darker and streakier than in this picture.

For future buyers of Lauren Ashtyn products, I would recommend buying a solid color topper a few shades lighter than you want it, then having your own hair stylist do any lowlights or balayage so that the color is right for you. You can go darker but not lighter, and there is no way to change the disappointing dark brown of this piece. I am so disappointed in the color that I have decided to try and sell it rather than have my stylist do anything with it.

The return policy on these products is extremely unfriendly. I would also suggest to buyers that the millisecond you open the box, if you are the least dissatisfied, call and arrange a return immediately. I thought it the color might grow on me, but I gave that strategy too much time (i.e. more than 24 hours), so I'm out of luck.

I have lots of good stuff to say about these hair extensions, but have also learned an expensive lesson. I'm not saying don't buy these products. In fact, I would recommend them. I just hope that others considering these products will take the lessons I learned into consideration before you buy.

Buyer Beware! Their suggested tip of $82.50 (my topper cost was $550) UP FRONT should have been my first red flag. When I wore it and got feedback from 6 of my friends the concensus was that it needed much more layering and feathering. So I called the salon on Tuesday, left a message that I needed a follow-up visit. More than 48 hours later my call had not been returned. Called again and got a human. Was informed that the stylist who fitted my topper only works part-time and I could not follow-up with her. Would have to schedule with another person who also works part time and that the first available would be in 2 weeks - really? Also there would be an additional charge of $80 for this service. The hair itself is not manageable, very stubborn and doesn't feel like real hair at all. Will try to salvage the piece with my regular local stylist. But have my doubts as the hair only wants to go one way and in my case it's the WRONG way. Fingers crossed!!!

I've given this company a chance to help me out but they simply have THE absolute worst customer service I've ever experienced. Went to their pop up event where they basically had 1 option for brunettes (solid black-too dark for me) Worked with a stylist who talked me into buying a lighter piece claiming I can just have it colored by my stylist. Btw, you have to pay for your piece and sign a waiver stating you are satisfied with your purchase BEFORE seeing the actual piece you would be getting, which in itself is already a red flag. I end up purchasing that topper. Once I get home and inspect it I see lots of breakage (they call it return hairs however the toppers hair looks more damaged than own damaged, dry hair) my stylist was surprised with the quality considering I just spent $850+ on it. Thankfully my stylist was able to match the color but unfortunately there is nothing that could be done about the quality of the hair and the apparent "damage/breakage" Please do your research! There are tons of other companies out there with comparable prices and amazing customer service. Don't be fooled by all the marketing you see pop up on Facebook or IG.
I've emailed a few times and each time was given a short "you signed a waiver we can't help you response"
and Lauren: no need to comment on this, just offer your ladies basic training on customer service and encourage some empathy.

"Unfortunately there is nothing we can do because you signed the purchase form stating there are no refunds or exchanges and we cannot be held responsible if it is damaged once it leaves with you. I'm sorry but that is the policy and there are no exceptions"

I spent $885 for a topper (Priscilla). I took the piece to my local hair stylist who specializes in extensions etc. my hair stylist confirmed that the piece is mostly synthetic hair. She compared real hair pieces with what this company sent. I should've read the yelp reviews before dropping nearly a grand on it. Going to try and donate it to a women's shelter and consider the $885 a donation to someone in need. What a fraud company.

I trusted them to steer me in the right direction with this very expensive $1200.00 topper. I said that I have no blonde in my hair that it is silver. The hair will not work for me. My stylist said that she cannot match this to my hair. LaurenAshtyn will not refund my money and will not take this for another return. They are crooks. I have sent 4 emails since I received the topper and also called. I didn't want to give them even 1 star. So sad that I am out $1200.00!!!!!

I don't even want to give it 1 star. Thank God I paid with PayPal! They lied to me. There was no customer service at all! I opened the box when it came and was shocked! I thought someone ran over a cat and threw it in the box. I never even tried it! I sent it back in1 hr. Cost was 70$ to ship and purchase insurance. And , that return policy is not legal in a court of law. THIS PLACE IS A SCAM, DO NOT BUY. PayPal will give me my $1200 and will be reimbursed by this shady (it's on back order, never answer the phone company because were short on help). If they do pay they will be dumped from PayPal . Never purchase something this pricey unless you use PayPal to fight for you. And you can always take them to small claims court and you will win! Hope you all take heed. Denna M

First, I would start by mentioning that I researched this company's reviews and watched about fifty videos. And thought they were an honest company but they are not. So, after nearly a year I decided to purchase what was supposed to be a Full Topper is is not. What a shock I know, it is Dry/Overprocessed and Bald! This company says it does not give refunds and I have no problem with that if I received what I bought and I did not. This company is taking advantage of women with Cancer and other diseases and they simply don't care it's all about the money. So don't believe the Fake videos, Some look nice but what I was sent was not. I am going to take legal action against a company that takes advantage of sick, desperate people. I will never recommend this company for they are crooks. The proof is in this Topper taken Right out of the box. Buyer Beware. $1300 down the drain. The hairpiece is very dry and thin all over not just the top.

Horrific experience. Had to get PayPal involved to get refund. They bait and switch customers on colors and then when you complain they sent wrong color they want you to pay them to dye the piece. Thank god for pay pals amazing customer service I was refunded. This company gets an F with the Better Business Bureaus. Buyer Beware!!!!!

Buyer Beware- This company is dishonest & unethical- they sold me a damaged wig @ a pop up event. Initially I thought it was a mistake, but after dealing with them I think it was done on purpose, after going round and round they finally agreed to exchange.. Upon receiving the hair they decided not to exchange and kept my money and the hair. They are refusing to refund money and refusing to send back the hair. So I'm out the money and the hair. They literally stole my money. They are rude and snotty on the phone. You can read more about them and their shady business tactics at Better Business Bureau. I wish I had researched first, save yourself the money and heartache of dealing with these vile woman.
