摘要:

Examples of therapeutic nature interventions that elicit multiple beneficial outcomes can be traced back to early Greek civilization to current therapeutic gardens now installed in hospitals, residential group homes and those created by soldiers during war. The growing scientific evidence supports these initial intuitive motivations that nature has a therapeutic benefit. Landscape architects play a substantial role in designing and activating for these emerging typologies and a unique design/build program at the University of Washington is using a studio-based education model to educate students about the theory and practicality of healing gardens. The results of this model have been the creation of over twenty therapeutic gardens created in both Seattle and abroad that offer prototypes for replication in communities and the movement is in its infancy.
