From the initial teardown where we remove your roof to the installation itself, our team will work diligently to ensure that your new roof not only has the right look, but the proper installation as well.
Our Roof Replacement Process
To give you a better idea of what to expect when you hire Elegant Exteriors, LLC, we’ve created a short breakdown of our new roof installation process:
Delivery
Once you have decided to replace roof shingles on your home and have figured out the perfect fit, we will schedule delivery of these materials to your home. Depending on the weather, driveway accessibility and pitch, we will determine if our team can place the shingles on the ground near your home or if we will boom load the shingles directly to your roof. Along with the materials, we will also deliver a container used to deposit the old roof to haul away when we’re done.
Protection
Roofing can be a messy job, but we can do many things to protect your home. As such, we will typically hang many tarps from your roof and cover areas on the ground to help us contain the old shingles when they are removed from your home. Doing our absolute best to protect your landscaping, decks, driveway and sidewalks is a priority!
Removal
Once we have taken the appropriate protective measures, we will begin the roof removal process. Keep in mind that the average 2000 sq. ft. home will have three tons of shingles on it that need to be removed and disposed of — and six tons if there are two layers. Additionally, the average home will have over 13,000 nails holding those shingles in place, and they will all need to be removed!
Inspection
After we remove your roof’s old material, we’ll thoroughly inspect your roof deck (plywood) for signs of rot and moisture and then replace any damaged plywood we find.
Preparation
Next, we’ll prepare your home for its new roof by sealing your roof deck with Ice and Watershield on areas indicated in your contract. We will also be installing underlayment and drip edge.
Installation
Whether you select a traditional asphalt architectural roof shingle or something more elaborate, such as cedar or slate, our team will install your new roof in a timely fashion.
Final Clean Up & Inspection
We pride ourselves in leaving each home we visit in the same condition that we found it, only this time with a better roof! We promise to leave any mess behind and to double-check our work to ensure that it exceeds industry standards and your expectations.
